YOUR WORK AND RESPONSIBILITIES IN THE CIENA GLOBAL TECHNICAL SUPPORT JOB ROLE:
- Implement automation for data collection and issue resolution.
- Offer remote technical support for identified CIENA products, 24×7 as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to review field issues and communicate with the Design and Supply Chain teams for problem resolution.
- Provide customer feedback to Quality Assurance, Design, Product Management, Technical Publications, and Training teams.
- Contribute to the publication of MOP/ISB/FSB documents.
- Contribute to the knowledgebase (KCS) for shared learning and reference.
- Serve as a Customer Lead Engineer for specific customers.
- Perform Resident Engineering functions on-site or remotely.
- Travel to customer sites and various Ciena locations worldwide.
ESSENTIAL SKILLS FOR THIS CIENA OFF CAMPUS DRIVE:
- Proficient in using various office software applications, such as Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Capable of analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving problems effectively.
- Familiarity with transport and switching systems in telecommunications, particularly in Optical Networking.
- Knowledgeable about different types of test equipment used for optical and protocol testing.
- Skilled in troubleshooting fiber optic telecommunications transport and switching equipment at the system level.
- Familiarity with computers, data communications, Linux, and IP network experience would be advantageous.
- Experience with network management systems would be beneficial.
- Proficient in verbal and written communication in the English language.
EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED FOR THIS CIENA GURGAON JOB:
BE/B.Tech (e.g., Engineering, Computer Science)
Demonstrated experience in automating tasks using scripting languages like JavaScript and Python.
Fundamental understanding of the operation of fiber optic transport and/or switching equipment.
Preferably, has worked in a technical support role with an equipment vendor in the Telco industry.
